Underwater Photography

Underwater Photography is an interesting field.  It’s an adventurous activity, hobby, or career.  You can do this type of photography anywhere there is water pretty much.  Imagine the possibilities!  You can take pictures in lakes, rivers, and even oceans.
Did you know that around 70 percent of the world is ocean and much of that ocean is still a mystery to humans?  That is a great reason to photograph in the ocean because you probably will come across something unique eventually.  Also, the ocean contains a wide variety of species of salt-water creatures in fairly clear waters.
Underwater photography is no easy task, at least if you’re planning on taking a decent picture.  First you need an underwater camera, so don’t go putting your everyday camera in the water, or you’ll end up with a very wet paperweight.  Different depths of water have different pressures, so make sure your underwater camera can withstand the pressures of the water you plan to shoot in.  Also, the deeper you go, the less sunlight available to capture the variance of colors your subject possesses.
Not only do you need a camera, but you need gear to assure your safety.  There is simple snorkeling equipment for those who don’t wish to go too deep, but there is also scuba gear.  If you’re diving deep, you need to be able to breath right?  And you need a wet suit to protect your skin and keep us warm in colder depths.

The main thing to educate yourself on when planning on doing underwater photography is to prepare.  Know what to equip yourself with.  It can be a fun activity, but always take precautions.

Cartoonist

Anthony Pickett

The career that I chose was a cartoonist for many reasons. I always loved drawling as a child and what could be a better job than drawling? There is however more to it than you'd think. A cartoonist is more than just a pencil and paper now days, cartoonists use many different formats and create works such as comic books, video game packaging, graphic novels, animations, greeting cards, magazine photos, and many more. Years prior to our current advances in technology cartoonists had to draw every picture frame by frame in their cartoons which was a lot of work. Cartoonists now days still share a pretty hefty workload all the same, because of advances in technology cartoonists have the ability to do many more things and to create many more characters and stories.

The tools that cartoonists use for the preliminary stages of their design are as follows, a variety of pencils and paper, waterproof ink and a Bristol board, a brush for the ink, dip pens, fountain pens, or a variety of technical pens or markers, mechanical tints, and various paints such as, acrylics, gouache, poster paints, or watercolors. They artist might also use crayons or pastels or colored pencils. There are several other tools the artists may use depending on the project obviously erasers are an important tool but the artist may also need certain tools such as a scalpel or adhesive tape depending on what the job is that the cartoonist is doing.

The reason I want to be a cartoonist is simple. Drawing pictures has always been a hobby of mine and I think its fun, and I do not want to go to a job everyday that I hate. The freedom a cartoonist has when creating his/her characters is wonderful and exhilarating. The have your tools laid out in front of you and having the freedom to make a piece of art out of nothing is a feeling I hope to experience one day.

Video Game Designer

Video Game Designer is widely used by everyone and is used to describe a computer designer. However they are two separate jobs. The designer starts with an idea for a game, plans out a story, sights and sounds. It's the Designers job to develop the overall concept and story of the game. Think of it as being an architect of a building.

You are in charge of the entire design and people that work with you to finish it. It's the same with being a Designer. He sets the framework of the game and works with the design team. The requirements for this position are a combination of creative and technical skills. Writing, performing, visual arts and music are especially useful.

The most important are excellent computer skills to understand the many problems you can encounter in development. Since the Video Game Designer is a leadership position, you need management and leadership skills to direct the work of a game design team. The salary of design jobs varies widely from $35,000-$75,000 a year. However this was reported in 2001 so it could've changed by now.

One must acquire a bachelors degree as the minimal education requirements. 25,660 to 119,250 is the range of salary that one can make. Story Board Artist!

Since i was a wee little baby, animations have also caught my eye. I'd sit in front of the TV and watch Toonami, and all of the cool animated shows. I've always wanted to create my own world, and be able to share it with other people. Sure, i have a great imagination, but i want other people to see what i see, to share a laugh with a situation that they may not have been able to picture. That is why i'm reviewing Story Board Artist.

A Story Board Artist has to take a scene from screenplays and translate that into a comic book form of the idea. If something said "On a dark, moonless night, the kids wandered.." they would translate this into a comic so it can be shown to the director and see if this is what he wanted. Most Storyboard artists are coming from animation or another fine arts job. They are required in very action intensive movies and CGI.

Jobs with Storyboard artist usually mean with movies, for they need help to layout a scene and need to be able to picture it in their minds. 2 - 3 Story Board artists may be hired full time for one movie. Story Board artist can be hired for video games, because of the process of making a video game, reminds me of making a movie, just a lot less real life. They will be needed to plan out the way scenes and characters will look. They can be hired at Sony, or any other big producer of movies and games.

Sports Photographer

The receiver is running down the sideline heading for the end zone. He looks up and the ball is right there, time is running out. So he reaches out his arms and snatches the ball right out of the air. The receiver scores and the team wins the football game. Some people may not have been able to see that exact moment or witness all of the small details that happened in this play. But luckily you were there to take a picture of it close up. Close enough that you could see the sweat dripping off of his face. Can you guess what you are? Your a Sports Photographer!

The first step in how to become a Sports Photographer is you have to love sports. You have to be able to come to work every day love doing what are doing and take pictures of sports. You also have to be good at foreseeing the future and being to foreshadow what is going to happen next.

Second: Sports Photography is very competitive. You also have to be a good people person, because people are what get you the positions that you need to take a great photo.

Third: Start off small and then  work your way up. You don't want to start off with the big leagues right off the bat, because it will be chaotic and you wont have any idea on what to do. So start off withe amateurs and make your way up the ladder from there.

Fourth: You have to know your equipment, be one with your camera. You treat your equipment with efficiency and it will give you good things in return. You also have to know your equipment and how things work. You don't want to sit there missing all of the action trying to figure out why your camera wont take pictures, is because you forgot to take the cap off of the lens.

Fifth: Create a portfolio. Great, so you've taken all of these good photos and now you have no where to put them. Not having a portfolio can risk your photos of being lost. Having a portfolio can benefit you by being able to show the "Big Guns" ( the other photographers) what your skills are and what your progress is.

Sixth: You have to apply, make yourself known. Create websites, do photos for the local newspaper, or even children's sporting events. Don't be afraid to show people your work. You also have to be able to withstand criticism. And most important pick and choose your opportunities.
