Underwater Photography is an
interesting field. It’s an adventurous activity,
hobby, or career. You can do this type
of photography anywhere there is water pretty much. Imagine the possibilities! You can take pictures in lakes, rivers, and
even oceans.
Did you know that around 70 percent
of the world is ocean and much of that ocean is still a mystery to humans? That is a great reason to photograph in the
ocean because you probably will come across something unique eventually. Also, the ocean contains a wide variety of species
of salt-water creatures in fairly clear waters.
Underwater photography is no easy
task, at least if you’re planning on taking a decent picture. First you need an underwater camera, so don’t
go putting your everyday camera in the water, or you’ll end up with a very wet paperweight. Different depths of water have different
pressures, so make sure your underwater camera can withstand the pressures of
the water you plan to shoot in. Also,
the deeper you go, the less sunlight available to capture the variance of
colors your subject possesses.
Not only do you need a camera, but
you need gear to assure your safety.
There is simple snorkeling equipment for those who don’t wish to go too
deep, but there is also scuba gear. If
you’re diving deep, you need to be able to breath right? And you need a wet suit to protect your skin
and keep us warm in colder depths.
The main thing to educate yourself
on when planning on doing underwater photography is to prepare. Know what to equip yourself with. It can be a fun activity, but always take
precautions.
